Criminals terrorise residents in these cars

Stay alert and aware on the road of who may be following you to your home - fundamental when avoiding being the victim of a robbery or hijacking.

GLENVISTA – Security companies and the community policing forums they work in partnership with have of late been using social media to get the assistance of communities in tracking down vehicles used by criminals.

Exercising caution on the road not only helps in avoiding collisions, but also in making sure that you aren’t being followed home by people who intend to harm you.

Recently, Special Operations Group (SOG) posted on their Facebook page an image of suspects involved in car-jamming incidents and travelling in a vehicle which was captured on CCTV.

A white Hyndai I30 with the registration CC 13 SP GP was reported as the vehicle used by suspects, who have a radio-jamming device which they use to disable the locking of car doors. Allegedly, the suspects wait for occupants to leave their vehicles and then casually walk up to the cars to take valuables found in the car.

SOG reports that the suspects operate mostly at shopping centres and were last spotted at Meyersdal Mall, where they stole from three vehicles.

Residents are also requested to be on the lookout for a BMW 320i Box Shape, with no back number plates and a North West registration in the front. Two suspects were seen in the vehicle, which was last spotted on Seventh Avenue.

FOX Security Company chased the BMW but the vehicle managed to get away.
