Top honour for Glenvista educator

Excellence in Physical Science was the award presented to a Glenvista High School teacher, Elz-beth Kruger

GLENVISTA – Elz-beth Kruger first won in the cluster competition and then went onto provincial level, where she received second place.

“I was quiet nervous, excited and quite proud; when you’re at the competitions you do the best you can. My family was excited, I hadn’t told anyone about the nomination. I called my mom at the event and told them about where I was,” explained Kruger excitedly.

Ms Kruger said she’s been receiving messages of congratulations from colleagues, learners, friends and family.

Glenvista High School Deputy Principal Mrs M Maritz said the school was very proud of Ms Krugers achievement. “People don’t always realise their ability and they always think what they do is normal, but what this (National Teachers Awards) does is, it shows that what they (the teachers) do isn’t normal,” explained Mrs Maritz, saying that teachers go above and beyond the call of duty to give their learners the best learning experience possible.

Glenvista High School staff all nominated and motivated Ms Kruger to enter the cluster competition, and after her portfolio was evaluated, she was called in for an interview. She made it through to National level and walked away a winner.
