NEWSMAN James Mahlokwane (29) is making waves as the next big thing in comedy after surprising people with his funny videos that have gone viral.
Using his stage name, Chomi Ya Jeso, the funnyman has created a new addiction, and thousands of people are watching his videos on their smartphones across the country and in Lesotho and Botswana.
One of his most loved videos was converted to audio and played on Metro FM, leaving thousands of listeners bursting with laughter.
On the video, he uses his fun but twisted humour to encourage people to refrain from dying this Festive Season because people have not budgeted for funerals.

His charisma enables him to jokingly say that dying people love attention and needed to know that the festive season is not about them, but the children who deserve new clothes.
“My videos are short but very punchy. My style allows me to say a lot of funny things within a minute but you’ll laugh for days.
“On stage I am this loud Zion Christian Church (ZCC) boy who surprises audiences and shoots laughter to the roof. I am only not loud when I perform is in English at private gigs. You know this language can decide to go shopping while you’re still using it,” he said.
He is a former senior journalist for Southern COURIER, sister paper of the CHRONICLE and RECORD, and is now a journalist for one of the leading national newspaper in the country.

Chomi Ya Jeso said he always loved comedy, and spent his entire life making people laugh. When he’s not in “serious mode”, running and ducking stun-grenades and rubber bullets at protest marches, he’s entertaining people.
“My media colleagues and predominantly female fans complained that I was super talented and I needed to show the rest of South Africans how amazingly funny I am.
“I decided to showcase my crazy and people were impressed. I think of myself as the people’s comedian because I haven’t spent money to boost my videos on social media platform; the people took it upon themselves to spread the videos through WhatsApp. “The videos reached influential social media personalities who published them. I send people the videos on 073 959 1707,” he said.
