Moffatview SAPS commemorates National Child Protection Week

Different stakeholders hosted learners from WH Coetzer Primary School on June 6 to teach them about their safety and rights.

Different community stakeholders hosted a group of children from WH Coetzer Primary School on June 6 to teach them about their safety and rights. They included Moffatview Social Crime Prevention, Moffatview Youth Crime Prevention Desk, Sanca, Moffatview Junior Station Commander, My Lillies of Hope, Women as Safety Promoters, South Hills Clinic, Khulisa Social Solutions, Guardian Angel Security, Reaper Tactical Security and the Department of Community Safety.

Const Olwethu Nose from Moffatview Police Station said an educational puppet show was played for the children to warn them about strangers.

“We are here with the learners from WH Coetzer Primary School since its National Child Protection Week. We are celebrating this event by also inviting different stakeholders who addressed the learners about safety tips and telling them about their rights.”

Children were also given colouring-in books containing contact numbers of the police and childline numbers. They were encouraged to speak out and report if they were being harassed in any way.

An educational puppet show was peformed for the children.
Sr Ayanda Bayisa from South Hills Clinic came to teach the children about health.
Brendon Maungwe from Diversity High School also had something to say to the learners.
Different stakeholders in the community also came to address the learners.
