A heartfelt thank you from JSPCA
The Johannesburg SPCA extends a heartfelt thank you to the community for the love and support shown towards society over the last few months.
Liana Marx from JSPCA said with the latest Covid-19 restrictions over the last two weeks, they had to move some of their staff onto the property.
She explained that the reason for this was twofold.
“Firstly to try and keep them safe as most of them travel by public transport and live quite far, and secondly to ensure there was someone on the property at all times to ensure the safety and well-being of the animals in their care.
“Our recent intake of animals in the last few days has been alarming, meaning we are in desperate need of dog and cat food, wet or dry. We normally put appeals out for support and the support we get from our communities is beyond words.
“With our blanket appeal, we received so many donations that not only could we ensure all our pets are warm and snug, but we are in a position to help communities by also supplying them with blankets for their pets.
“Not only does the SPCA benefit greatly from this initiative, but communities that have been hit the hardest are also able to keep their beloved pets warm. Thank you to each person who donated blankets, pillows, or bedding towards our SPCA,” said Marx.
They also want to give a big thank you to Leyya Pillay and her family for making a huge donation on July 2 towards their animals and staff staying on the property.
“The support for our Sponsor a Meal programme has also been overwhelming, and our staff wanted to express their heartfelt thanks to all our supporters.
Our pets have also been thoroughly spoilt by Bernita Thulsie and her family who donated food, treats, blankets, and toys for all our pets. Thank you to everyone who made these wonderful donations possible,” she said.
