Mum mourns murdered son

Martie Troskie is mourning her son's death.

This is after Stefanus Troskie (44) was stabbed and shot multiple times in South Hills on November 19.

She said what is puzzling is that she mentally challenged son was a peaceful person and loved by everyone in the area.

“They wanted him dead. How can he be killed like that? You even shoot a dog just once. My son was stabbed and shot, why?” asked Troskie.

On the day of his murder, Martie said Stefanus was helping someone to buy liquor.

“He normally helps people in the community. He was on his way from the bottle store and was taking the liquor to the person he was helping. I was called to the scene where he was stabbed and shot.

“According to the people who saw what happened, apparently a guy in a hoodie came from the open veld next to the recreation centre towards the clinic and stabbed him in the stomach. He was then shot. As he went inside the shop to ask for help, he has shot again.

“When I came to the scene, I found him lying in a pool of blood. We called the ambulance and the police, but no one came. We then took him to South Rand Hospital. I think he died along the way, I could see his eyes rolling backwards.

“My son was killed for what exactly? People loved him. He was so peaceful. It is really unbelievable that he is gone,” she said.

Moffat View SAPS communications officer Sgt Solly Matjila said they are looking for the murder suspect.

“It is alleged that on November 19 in South Hills near the South Hills Clinic an unknown male suspect wearing a hoodie and mask approached a white male who was pushing a black Pikitup dustbin and took out a firearm and started shooting at the guy. He then ran away.

“The victim ran to the nearest shop to seek help. He was rushed to South Rand Hospital with a private vehicle and was declared dead upon his arrival.

Police are investigating a case of murder. No arrests have been made.

“Moffat View police urged anyone with information to come forth or call 071 675 6330 or 08600 10111,” he said.
