Alberton Squash Club hosts championship finals

Alberton's squash club hosted three events in one day to close off the year. Members of the club were honoured and celebrated on November 26.

The Alberton Squash Club held the finals of their club championship, at their premises, on November 26.

The competition was held between November 10 and November 26.

Current acting president of South African Squash entity Jennifer Sawyer also availed herself to watch the matches.
Sawyer assisted in refereeing the final two games.

Winners:

Ladies

Georgia Dates claimed this year’s ladies’ championship title.

Linda Ackermans came second and took the silver medal in the ladies’ category.

Liezl Potgieter, in third place, took bronze.

Men

The men’s final was contested between last year’s finalists Anton de Jager and Mark Capell. At the end of the day, Capell was just too good and took gold from Anton.

Anton came second and took silver.

Charl Geldenhuys, in third place, took bronze.

After the finals, the club hosted its prize-giving and year-end function.
