Ligstad reaches out to community
Ligstad held an informative evening at its Alberton North premises on September 21, to enlighten the community on their services.

The Ligstad team recently presented an informative session to interested members of the community, informing them of their services through an insightful presentation.
Established in September 2012, Ligstad’s vision remains to become a beacon of light and hope in Christ. It is their divine calling to be a beacon of light and hope in the community.
They aim to uplift the community using the community itself. They opened their doors with aftercare services for three local primary schools and services to older persons in the community. As they grew, in 2013, they started training lay counsellors and later opened their playgroup, now a fully registered preschool, with healthy meals provided for all their children.
Services of the social worker are available to every service user. They stand on two important principles; pro-active services instead of reactive services and independence from the welfare system versus a culture of dependency.
In 2014, they were registered as an NPC and they started the process of receiving their PBO numbers from SARS. Ligstad’s focus is to provide dignity, pride and responsibility to persons in the community.
They believe in partnerships and that they do better work if they take hands with existing organisations and churches. They are involved in various outreach projects with NG Kerk Alberton-Wes, Ilse-Louise Herholdt (music), Lana Veldhuizen (Dunamis) and Tutela.

They are also involved with Lions or BrightSight, Leon Basson, Doxa Deo Meyersdal and Gemeentes van Alberton.
They dream of a capacity-filled preschool, aftercare for children whose lives are enriched by the new experiences they have at Ligstad, spiritual care for the community and reversal of city decay. Ligstad also dreams of a site with a multi-functional facility to be utilised by the community, concerts in their building, training and caring for the community.
Community members can get involved by praying, marketing, getting involved in service delivery, and supporting them with resources.
