Residents are invited to attend an urgent community meeting at the Kibler Park Recreation Centre at 19:30 pm on October 4.

According to Ward 125 Councillor Matsobane Sekhu, following the fire in Marshalltown, the City of Johannesburg has declared the Swartkoppies site a temporary emergency accommodation for the people who used to occupy the burnt building.

“From tomorrow, October 5, the City of Johannesburg will be bringing the displaced people to the area as it is deemed safer than the building in Marshalltown'” he said.

Sekhu said the custodian of the land to be occupied is the City of Johannesburg’s property company.
