Mondeor pool hall murder: Case remains at pretrial stage

The accused remains out on bail but conditions were set.

A 19-year-old is facing a murder charge after allegedly fatally stabbing another teenager (18) at Ballbreakers, a pool hall in Mondeor on April 5, 2025.

The accused appeared in the Booysens Magistrate’s Court on March 25.

The case was set for pretrial, and the defence was to prepare their case for trial. Witnesses were to be called, and evidence was meant to be finalised.

Magistrate Vele advised that the court records from the start of the case need to be analysed during the pretrial, as the case was moved between courts.

The case was then stood down for the court records to be located.

The records were not brought to court, and so the case was postponed to April 29.

The case remains at the pretrial stage with no indication that a trial in the murder case will begin soon.

The accused remains out on bail but must now report to a specific police officer every week.

These are due to various safety concerns regarding the accused.
