Glenvista High School initiates discipline after teacher, learners brawl

Teacher, pupils exchange blows, and furniture flies at Glenvista High School.

Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) says the investigation is about to start on the Glenvista High School’s teacher and learners’ fight.

Steve Mabona, spokesperson for the Gauteng Department of Education, said: “Accordingly, the educator is back from sick leave and as such disciplinary action will commence. The implicated learners have been suspended pending the finalisation of the disciplinary processes.”

Last week, a video showing a teacher and two pupils from the school engaging in a physical altercation using a chair and a desk, spread rapidly across social media.

On May 2, a scuffle broke out in a classroom involving two Grade Nine pupils and a teacher exchanging blows.

The GDE visited the school on May 3 and launched an investigation to ascertain the details surrounding its cause.
