Senior citizen in Booysens receives much-needed wheelchair
Norman Olivier – Mrs Van der Westuizen’s son-in-law, jokingly said: “now we can spin the old lady.”

Bambanani Community Care Centre in Booysens came to the aid of an elderly citizen who was in need of a wheelchair.
Rokeya van der Westhuizen was struggling to move around the house and yard, until Van der Westuizen’s daughter reached out to her community through a WhatsApp group, requesting assistance.
The message caught the attention of councillor Rashieda Landis and the search was on for a wheelchair sponsor.

Bambanani Community Care Centre and Landis managed to get a wheelchair donor for Van der Westuizen.
Reacting to the outpouring of love and support, Captain Norman Olivier, Van der Westuizen’s son-in-law, jokingly said: “Now we can spin the old lady.”
Landis also commented on the wheelchair sponsorship, saying: “Thanks to the sponsorship, it is highly appreciated. I am happy we could assist to make a difference.”
