New CPF promises to work with all stakeholders in the area

The CPF asks for partnership with the community to curb crime.

The new Moffat View Crime Police Forum (CPF) was elected on September 3.

Within the CPF there are three sectors:

Sector 1 – La Rochelle, Regents Park, Regents Park Extension, Springfield, Rewlatch, The Hill, and Rosettenville; Sector 2 – Linmeyer, Oakdene, Rosettenville Extension, Townsview, Glenanda North, The Glen, and Glen Eagles; and Sector 3 – Moffat View, Elandspark, Moffatpark, South Hills, Elands Rock, Unigray, Thulisa Park, Electron and Steeledale.

The new Moffat View main CPF public relations officer Nhlanhla Rankoa said the safety of Gauteng residents is under serious threat as the province remains the capital of serious crimes.

The fact that Gauteng continues to be the hub of serious crimes raises questions about the crime prevention measures put in place in the province. Gauteng residents deserve a government that walks the talk on crime and not only makes crime an apex priority on paper while lacking clear plans to tackle it.

“Improving levels of safety is key in the creation of a safer and resilient society, therefore in order to achieve this, the focus needs to move towards a police-community-orientated partnership. The compounding impact of implementing social crime prevention initiatives by various stakeholders will definitely have a positive influence on the levels of safety within communities,” said Rankoa.

The onus is on the communities of the above-mentioned three sectors, religious leaders, businesses, and SAPS just to name a few, to work together towards a common enemy which is crime for the benefit of all.

“It is important to undertake a thorough assessment of the crime trends, causative factors and remedial plans by the SAPS to deal with the current scourge. While crime statistics provide a picture of the current trends, effective and proactive plans are necessary to ensure that the people of this country feel safe,” said Rankoa.
