Young photographer from Glenvista aims to snap his way to success
He is a graduate from The Market Theatre Photo Workshop and hopes to make a name for himself in the photography world.
Photography is Siyabonga Ndlovu’s first love since he discovered the beauty of this art form.
The 25-year-old from Glenvista said he thought you needed a lot of work and tactical acumen to do photography, however, he has an eye for this craft.
Although he started with a cellphone to take photographs, he has graduated to take great pictures using his Cannon R50.
His Instagram page (siyasnaps_) is a testimony to the brilliant images captured.
“The passion for photography started in 2017 when I used my cellphone. Then in 2020, I did the Foundation Photography Course at The Market Theatre Photo Workshop where I honed my skills.
“It was not an easy six months for me. There was much pressure, and I had to do a one-on-one with my lecturer to complete this certificate course,” he said.
Siya said the course helped him to create and conceptualise great shots. “Studying there was wonderful and I hope it will open other doors to give me a chance to do what I love most – taking photographs,” he said.
About the skilful Siya
His mother, Felicia Sithole, described him as a skillful photographer.

“Siya attended Frances Vorwerg School, a special school catering to learners with cerebral palsy and learning disabilities.
“The school environment provides less or nothing for learners with disabilities post-leaving school. The government equally provides no effective programmes for young people with disabilities,” she said.
With photography, he is involved in independent work in various settings to capture the essence of his subject. He is computer literate in Microsoft Office.
“I have been involved in independent photography work involving private photoshoots, art photography, and model portfolios for three years.
“I hope to gain experience in a professional photography environment in any setting (magazines, newspapers, model management, event photography, or corporate photography). I believe such experience will help me build a portfolio that will make me a world-class photographer and help me reach my goal of having my own photography exhibition in the next two years,” he said.
