Embrace Village hosts trauma-informed workshop
The session helped to better equip the participants to care for both their teams and themselves.
Embrace Village recently had the privilege of facilitating a deeply meaningful workshop with 13 dedicated leaders and frontline staff from the NGO sector, titled ‘Working in the shadow of trauma: How trauma shows up in the workplace and what can be done to support our teams’.
The session created space for reflection, connection and practical insight into the topic.
Throughout the day, the participant explored how trauma, whether vicarious, cumulative, or personal, can silently shape behaviours, team dynamics and organisational culture. Participants shared, listened and leaned into the learning with courage and care.
Managing director, Pipa Jarvis said: “What emerged was not only a better understanding of trauma or informed approaches, but a collective recognition of the need to care for those who care for others. It was a session of honesty and solidarity, with moments of deep resonance and gentle humour.”
One participant, Zelda Krugershared: “I came home from the workshop with a sense of being nurtured and informed, having shared a special space with colleagues. The approach and skill in holding the workshop environment, bringing reflection and the information sharing are impactful to us.”
“We are grateful to each participant who brought their wisdom to the room,” added Jarvis. “We look forward to offering more of these sessions in the months ahead to continue building resilient and compassionate workplaces that support the tireless work of those walking alongside the vulnerable.”
If you’re interested in hosting a future session for your team or network, Embrace Village would love to hear from you.
