WATCH: PinkDrive rolls out life-saving screenings and support

The PinkDrive brought vital health services to Glenanda Clinic with over 140 screenings done in one day, and plenty of warm drinks to fight off the chill.

Despite the cold weather, a recent PinkDrive event at Glenanda Clinic saw a strong turnout from the local community.

The mobile health unit provided free cancer screening services, thanks to a generous anonymous donation of R55 000.

The donation, offered to health and social development portfolio member for Ward 23, Lynette Meyer, was passed on in full to PinkDrive, enabling the event to take place.

In total, the PinkDrive team carried out 31 mammograms, 50 pap smears, 60 prostate tests, and many free breast exams.

“These tests are crucial for detecting cancer early, particularly in communities where high private medical costs make screenings inaccessible,” said Meyer.

The event was well attended, with everyone who arrived being accommodated. “While the wind was icy, the warmth shared among the community and sense of shared purpose made a big impact,” added Meyer.

Ward 23 councillor Tyrell Meyers officially opened the event. The organiser also thanked the PinkDrive Head Office team for their professional service and equipment, as well as Vumatel, who provided hot drinks to all, including clinic staff and patients.
