Resthaven Ministries celebrate the opening of new senior citizens’ home

The New Life Centre offers a safe, affordable, and dignified living space for the elderly, reflecting a legacy of compassion and community care

Resthaven Ministries recently announced the opening of its new senior citizens’ home at the New Life Centre, 140 Albert Street, Rosettenville.

The opening ceremony, which took place on Mandela Day, was a significant step in the organisation’s continued dedication to offering care, dignity, and independence to seniors aged 60 and older.

In keeping with Nelson Mandela’s legacy of compassion and service, the new facility offers a safe, welcoming, and affordable space for seniors who wish to maintain their independence while receiving the support and community they need to thrive.

CEO of Resthaven Ministries, Neil Williams, said: “This home is not just a building; it is a dream come true. It is a place where our elders can feel safe, respected, and at peace. We believe that everyone deserves a place they can truly call home, no matter their circumstances.”

Resthaven Ministries is a faith-based, non-profit organisation dedicated to uplifting vulnerable communities through support and residential care.

“It is with great joy that we open another set of doors to welcome senior citizens,” said Williams.

“Our goal has always been to offer affordable living spaces. It brings us great satisfaction to see the smiles on our elderly residents’ faces as they enjoy life in our homes.

“Through our team’s dedication, this dream became a reality. I thank our benefactors and sponsors for their vital support. Special thanks also go to our staff, caterers, and volunteers, whose hard work made the launch memorable. We’re grateful to our ward councillor, Michael Crichton; key community members; our chairperson and board; and especially our residents and beneficiaries, who continue to trust in us.”

According to Williams, Resthaven Ministries, by the grace of God, will continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the less fortunate. “The organisation’s vision does not stop here, as it continues to expand and serve the community,” Williams said.

“My goal is to accommodate 10 residents by the end of 2025. We have rooms available and will continue to make space for more senior citizens until our home is fully occupied.”
