Mosque in Mulbarton hosts open day for the community
Masjid Nusaybah invites residents of all faiths to its open day on August 16, promoting unity, understanding, and community connection through guided tours and dialogue.
The Muslim community of Mulbarton invites residents of all faiths and backgrounds to attend a mosque open day at the Masjid Nusaybah, 47 True North Road, Mulbarton.
The event slated for August 16 aims to build bridges, foster greater understanding and provide an opportunity for open and respectful dialogue.
Guided tours of the mosque will be at 10:00 and 14:00, allowing visitors to explore the prayer facilities, learn more about Islamic practices and engage directly with members of the Muslim community.
“Many people pass by the mosque, see the congregants gathered, and wonder what goes on inside,” said an organiser, Imam Mufti Husain Ahmed Koya.
“This is the perfect opportunity to come in, meet us, ask your questions and share a moment of connection over tea and treats.”
The organisers emphasise that this initiative is not only about opening the mosque’s doors, but opening hearts and minds.
The Masjid Nusaybah has been a pillar of the community for many years, offering blanket drives, medical days, food hamper distributions and water relief efforts during times of shortage. The mosque’s borehole has served as a vital water source for the neighbourhood during outages.
Residents are encouraged to attend, regardless of gender or background.
“We are all part of one community,” added the spokesperson and Islam4you representative, Mawlana Ahmed Bhyat.
“By getting to know one another, we break barriers and build a more inclusive and compassionate society.”
The event is open to all, and modest dress is appreciated. For those curious or simply seeking to connect with neighbours, the open day promises to be an enlightening and welcoming experience.
