WATCH: Pick n Pay donates new Suzuki to Metro World Child SA
The gift, along with weekly bread sponsorship for 3 000 families, strengthens efforts to uplift children through mentorship and meals.
Metro World Child SA’s Gauteng team received a new Suzuki from Pick n Pay Mulbarton and the Lemon Tree in Alberton at a handover at the Panorama Shopping Centre on August 23.
This donation allows the organisation to continue uplifting children through mentorship, nourishing meals, and values-centred education.
The partnership between Pick n Pay and Metro World Child goes beyond the vehicle donation. Pick n Pay also sponsors bread that feeds 3 000 families weekly, demonstrating the true meaning of ubuntu; the understanding that we are all in this together.
This act of kindness is a testament to the power of community and the impact achievable when organisations work together towards a common goal.
Glisson Niekerk, the director of Metro World Child, thanked Pick n Pay, saying, “We simply cannot reach the number of children we do without the generosity of partners like Pick n Pay Mulbarton and the Lemon Tree.”

The organisation’s dedication to its mission is evident in its reach, having supported 145 524 children just last week.
Local pastor Colin Runganikhulu attended the handover and prayed a blessing over the newly revamped Panorama Shopping Center.
This gesture highlights the importance of community and faith in supporting a common cause.
Pick n Pay’s donations show the impact possible when organisations prioritise giving back to the community.
As Niekerk noted, “It will take all of us uniting our strengths to create a brighter future for our children.”
