Haksul Muziq breaks silence with soul-stirring comeback

After a year of community work and self-reflection, double SAMA Artist of the Year winner Haksul Muziq returns with a new single.

South African music sensation Tokoloho Mavuso, widely known by his stage name Haksul Muziq, is set to make a powerful comeback with his new single Nguye Lona.

This release marks his first musical offering after a year-long break, during which he focused on community work and re-evaluating his artistic direction amid the ever-evolving South African music scene.

Haksul Muziq, a beloved figure in the industry, is no stranger to acclaim, having won the coveted South African Music Awards (SAMA) Artist of the Year title consecutively in 2022 and 2023.

His back-to-back wins underscore his profound impact and enduring connection with fans across the country.

The artist took a step back from releasing music to dedicate more time to giving back to the communities that have supported him. His efforts included donating nutritious food parcels to thousands of families and providing shoes to school learners, bringing hope and support to those in need.

Reflecting on his year away from the music scene, Haksul revealed that his break was influenced by a need to adapt to the shifting dynamics of the industry, particularly with the rise of the amapiano genre.

“When I was introduced to amapiano, I found it challenging to adjust. The genre felt more about popularity than delivering a message to music lovers,” he explained.

Instead, Haksul found solace and renewed inspiration in the three-step style, a sound deeply rooted in Afro Soul and more closely aligned with his artistic identity.

“Three-step is more aligned with who I am and the message I want to send to the world. This is why it was easy for me to come up with what my fans would love,” he said.

He also expressed heartfelt gratitude towards his fans, crediting them alongside his talent as blessings from God.

“Music is a talent from God, but my fans were sent by the very same God to put me where I am today. I felt the need to focus on them during this period,” Haksul stated.

Born and bred in Ekurhuleni, the local star’s passion for music began at the tender age of seven with drums and singing, eventually progressing to DJing at 16. His journey has been marked by dedication and resilience, with unwavering support from his parents.

With several singles to his name, including Ungiphul’intliziyo, Unobubele Ngami, and Thank You, Mom, as well as collaborations with top artists like DJ Sbu, Big Zulu, and Kamo Mphela, Haksul Muziq’s return is highly anticipated by fans and critics alike.

Nguye Lona promises to deliver a fresh yet authentic sound that stays true to his roots while speaking directly to the hearts of his listeners.

As the music industry continues to evolve, Haksul Muziq remains steadfast in his commitment to authenticity and meaningful storytelling. Fans can expect the single’s release soon. A welcome return from an artist who has not only entertained but uplifted many through both his music and community work.
