Alberton man pleads for help after dogs go missing
Martin van der Bijl begs for the community’s help to find his missing dogs, Axel and Zahara.
An Alberton resident is desperately searching for his two dogs, Axe and Zahara, that went missing from New Redruth on the evening of September 14.
Owner Martin van der Bijl says they are more than just pets; they are his only companions.
“I live alone and they are all I have. I miss my dogs terribly and am desperate to get them home,” he said.
Axel, also known as ‘Little Boy’, is a slim, medium-sized brown mixed breed. He is tall, has a long body and was last seen wearing a green necktie.
Zahara, affectionately called ‘Dobbie’, is a white female with tan markings. She has long legs, a slightly chubby build and resembles a large Jack Russell.

Both are sterilised and microchipped.
Van der Bijl pleads with anyone in Alberton and the surrounding areas to keep an eye out for Axel and Zahara.
