Southern Wolves Scouts join community project at SA Military Museum

Young scouts rolled up their sleeves to help with exhibit maintenance, turning a day of service into a memorable learning experience about SA heritage.

The Southern Wolves Scout (SWS) group, together with at least two other Scout groups from the Johannesburg region, took part in a community project at the South African Military Museum on October 25.

Fifteen Scout troops, along with several cubs, spent the day cleaning the museum’s exhibits.

According to Avril Murray from the SWS group, the Scouts thoroughly enjoyed the experience, especially being able to climb on and into some of the exhibits as part of the cleaning process, making the day truly unforgettable.

The event began with a safety and handling briefing at 08:00 to ensure that all participants treated the historical displays with care.

The project forms part of Scouts South Africa’s national challenge for the year, which focuses on heritage, encouraging Scouts to learn about the country’s history while giving back to their community.
