Pick n Pay Southdale spreads hope with Breast Cancer Awareness event
The store created a supportive space filled with education, health checks and messages of hope to encourage early testing and show solidarity with those affected by cancer.
The Pick’n Pay Southdale store recently hosted a Breast Cancer Awareness event to show its support for staff, customers and the community.
The event aimed to raise awareness, share knowledge about breast health and remind everyone that early testing and emotional support can save lives.

The store was decorated with pink posters, ribbons and messages of hope. Customers were greeted with information about breast cancer awareness and encouraged to learn more about regular screenings.

The event included talks and activities led by Move with Mike, a local gym facilitator, the South Rand Health facilitators, and Sifiso and his team from the Bellavista Clinic.

Together with the Pick n Pay Southdale charity team, Boipelo, Katlego and Rosetta, the day focused on spreading health education and encouragement.

A member of the Pick n Pay charity team shared, “Pick n Pay Southdale staff were inspired when we started our charity. As we worked, we realised people need our support, not only financial help, but also emotional support to show that we care. We need to show our love not only to our customers but to everybody. At Pick n Pay, we always say doing good is good business.”

The message of the event was to show care and solidarity with those affected by cancer. The team wanted everyone to know that they were not alone and that help and hope were available.

Regular shopper Paulina Azov shared, “The staff are always friendly and helpful. I’m happy they held this event. It demonstrated their true values and showed that they care about the community.”

“The knowledge people received reminds us that we must take care of our health,” said another team member. “Cancer is not the end. You can rise, beat it and face it together by sharing your problems.”

Pick n Pay Southdale plans to continue working with local healthcare facilitators every two months to ensure the message of early testing and self-care continues to reach the community.

Through this event, Pick n Pay Southdale again showed that community support and kindness are at the centre of everything they do.
