WATCH: Joburg south rapper ISSACHAR drops debut EP

Rap music has positively influenced many young people in Joburg.

Twenty-year-old rapper and producer Ofentse Issachar Nthite, known by his stage name ISSACHAR, has released his debut EP titled Thank God 4 Rap, which was released on March 8.

Hailing from Naturena, Johannesburg South, ISSACHAR completed primary school at Naturena Primary School and high school at Mondeor High.

Growing up, he was influenced by his mother’s gospel music and his father’s jazz CDs, which shaped his musical ear.

ISSACHAR began recording in his bedroom at age 16 after saving money to buy his own equipment.

His music is lyric-driven, focused on substance and storytelling, and inspired by South African artists like Emtee, Areece, and Nasty C, who blend lyricism with meaningful messages.

The extended playlist (EP) Thank God 4 Rap is a personal gratitude project that helped him express himself and navigate life.

“This project is an expression of my passion for music. The music reflects the idea that every decision in life is meaningful. I hope to relate to my audience and hopefully make a positive mark through the music I produce,” said Issachar.

Fully self-produced, the album mixes conscious, emotional and energetic records, avoiding trends to focus on introspection, hunger, ambition and thankfulness for finding purpose in rap.

“The biggest challenge was handling every aspect-production, recording and writing-requiring discipline but allowing full creative control over the project’s vision,” outlined Issachar.

Issachar’s music can be found on YouTube Music, Spotify and Apple Music.
