Over R12k raised for addiction recovery programme

Gamers, supporters and residents came together to raise much-needed funds for The Recovery Foundation.

A recent fundraising event hosted by A.I. FEST has been a resounding success, bringing together community members, partners, and supporters in a shared commitment to mental health and addiction recovery.

The event, held as part of the broader A.I. Fest tournament, supported The Recovery Foundation’s ongoing work helping individuals and families affected by addiction and related challenges. Attendees gathered not only to participate in the unique gaming competition but also to contribute to a meaningful cause.

The tournament followed a structured format, featuring Swiss Rounds (Best-of-One matches) leading into Single Elimination Top Cut Finals, where the top four players competed for top honours.

Beyond the competition, the event stood out for its strong sense of purpose. Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising both the welcoming environment and the impactful mission behind the fundraiser.

Organisers confirmed that a total of R12 573 was raised during the event. These funds will go directly toward The Recovery Foundation’s recovery and reintegration programmes, supporting individuals on their journey toward rebuilding their lives.

The Recovery Foundation expressed its sincere gratitude to A.I. FEST for hosting and facilitating the fundraiser, as well as to all participants and supporters who contributed to its success.

The event underscored the power of collaboration, demonstrating how community-driven initiatives can create meaningful social change while raising awareness around critical issues such as mental health and addiction recovery.
