SKF feeds over 300 people with LewenSentrum veggie donation

Fresh vegetables become cooked meals as SKF distributes food across Joburg.

The Sharing Kindness Foundation (SKF), based in Mulbarton, turned a donation of fresh vegetables into hearty meals for less privileged families in Johannesburg South.

Alberton LewenSentrum congregation donated the vegetables. The meals provided food to more than 300 people in need, while food parcels were also provided to 25 families facing food insecurity.

SKF volunteers sorted and delivered the vegetables immediately after receiving them, ensuring the produce reached kitchens and households while still fresh. The meals were served to vulnerable residents through SKF’s community feeding network, with family food packs distributed directly to homes in Joburg South.

SKF founder Nic Janse van Rensberg expressed gratitude for the local support.

“When a congregation like Alberton LewenSentrum opens their hands, it fills more than just pots; it gives people hope. Those vegetables didn’t just feed people; they reminded families that their community sees them. That’s the kind of kindness that keeps us going,” said Nic.

The Sharing Kindness Foundation says it will continue working with churches, businesses and residents to channel donations to those who need them most in the southern suburbs.
