Thembi Maesela launches empowerment awards to celebrate women of impact

Rooted in community upliftment and women’s empowerment, the NPO aims to recognise impactful women.

Queens With Purpose South Africa is a registered NPO founded by Thembi Maesela from Liefde en Vrede, Johannesburg South.

The NPO has announced its inaugural Awards Ceremony to honour women making a real difference in their communities and workplaces.

Founded in 2019, the organisation is dedicated to recognising, celebrating and empowering women whose journeys reflect resilience, leadership, transformation and meaningful community impact.

Over the years, it has grown into a strong platform for community upliftment, with a special focus on supporting people living with disabilities.

Through grassroots initiatives such as grocery donation drives, sanitary towel distribution programmes, and inclusive events like International Sports Day for people with disabilities, Queens With Purpose South Africa continues to promote dignity, inclusion, and care within communities.

Thembi explained the heart of the mission, she said: “This organisation was created to uplift women and communities who are often overlooked. We believe every woman has a story of strength that deserves to be seen and celebrated.”

Beyond community work, the organisation also leads national empowerment programmes aimed at inspiring women to grow in confidence and leadership.

This includes a purpose-driven women’s pageant that supports personal development and leadership growth. The crowned Queen receives a fully sponsored international platform to represent Africa.

The organisation has already seen international success, with Queens representing South Africa across the world, including India in 2024, Nigeria and Turkey in 2024, the Philippines in 2025, and Myanmar in 2026.

As part of its continued growth, Queens With Purpose South Africa is launching a prestigious awards platform to recognise women who are making a meaningful impact in their communities, businesses, professions, and workplaces.

Sharing her vision for the new initiative, she said, “This is more than just an awards ceremony. It is a movement that celebrates purpose, resilience and leadership. We want women to know that their work matters.”

She further added: “When women are recognised and supported, entire communities are transformed. This platform is about creating that change and building a lasting legacy.”

The inaugural Awards Ceremony will take place on Saturday, August 22 at The Fortress Venue, Kempton Park, with the red carpet starting at 12:00.

The event will bring together leaders, change-makers, and inspiring women from across South Africa to celebrate excellence, service, and impact.

Queens With Purpose South Africa remains committed to building a strong legacy of empowered women who lead with purpose, serve with compassion, and inspire transformation locally and globally.
