A great visit to a media house

It was a great learning opportunity and we realised that if you work hard and believe in your dreams you will succeed.

ON Thursday, May 26, I had the opportunity to visit Ndalo Media with my fellow learners of our Grade Nine class from Pioneer Academy, Ormonde through the Cell C Take A Girl Child To Work initiative.

We were 20 girls and we were given a chance to experience and see how a magazine company works.

We were welcomed by a few staff members from Destiny Magazine and they explained the roles they play. We also met the chief executive officer (CEO) of the company, Khanyi Dhlomo, it was an absolute dream.

We were given a tour of the office space and told the function of each workspace. They then ushered us into the boardroom where we had refreshments and a question and answer session with the CEO and some staff members. A lot of questions were asked by my peers and I, and we got to know how the company got to where it is now. We had a blast.

This was a great opportunity and it was very inspirational. This had an effect on me, and when thinking about your future it all adds up to one point – it all starts now. Identifying your dream and searching for bigger and better ways to reach it. Think thoroughly about it and make sure you expand on it by doing the undefinable. Not limiting yourself by always remembering that, I have a dream and definitely the sky is the limit.

It was a great learning opportunity and we realised that if you work hard and believe in your dreams, you will succeed.
