Young karting star competes in African Karting Cup

The young racer participation was a representation of his passion and to promote motorsport.

Santiago Frade, a Grade Five learner from St Martin’s School, recently participated in the Federation of International Automobiles (FIA) inaugural carting championship in Africa.

This cup is a prestigious new karting competition, which aims to boost participation and increase opportunities for enthusiastic, young drivers looking to enter internationally.

His participation was aimed at promoting motorsports in the continent. The competition saw 27 young drivers representing nine different racing federations. They battled gruelling temperatures of 39°C in Pretoria. Santiago emerged 11th among the 27 racers in Africa.
