Building a brighter future for Brackendowns’ young footballers
Rovers Football Club gathers coaches for a day of strategy and inspiration
Rovers Football Club in Brackendowns hosted a successful coaches indaba on January 26 at the club’s clubhouse.
The event brought together the coaching and administration teams.
The keynote speaker was renowned South African professional coach Zeca Marques.

The agenda focused on outlining the club’s vision to become one of the top clubs in Joburg South.
Discussions centred on improving facilities and coaching strategies, with a strong emphasis on nurturing young players and producing not only great players but also good people.
The indaba marked an exciting new chapter for Rovers Football Club, and all involved are eager to implement the plans and strategies discussed.
Sheldon Stuurman, newly elected deputy chairperson, spoke about the need to improve the facilities at the club.

“We need to add benches to the technical areas for the home and away team, which will improve the functionality of our football pitches at the club,” said Sheldon.
Chairperson Thokozani Maluka add the need to improve some of the pitches at the club.

Marques, who coached Maroka Swallows FC and Black Leopards FC in the former PSL (renamed Betway Premiership) was in attendance to advise on how to improve players from the grassroots levels.

“The dedication to improve the club by all involved is inspiring and Rovers is one of the only clubs I have visited that seek to improve all aspects of the club. It can only lead to the production of better young players.
“The club must also focus on improving players’ technical ability and tactical awareness. For the younger players, it is not about winning but development. “Rovers can be a good place to develop the next generation of Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana players,” said Marques.
