The Joburg Open officially began with executive mayor, Dada Morero, hitting the ceremonial opening shot at Houghton Golf Club on March 6.
This prestigious tournament, co-sanctioned by the Sunshine Tour and DP World Tour, promises thrilling competition, world-class talent, and an economic boost for the city.
Morero emphasised the tournament’s significance.
“It showcases Joburg’s commitment to excellence in sport, tourism, and international investment,” said Morero.
The Joburg Open has long promoted the city on an international stage, attracting visitors, investors, and sports enthusiasts.

This year’s edition features a powerful field of local and international golfers, including Dylan Frittelli, Jacques Kruyswijk, and Deon Germishuys.
The tournament boasts a prize fund of $1 100 000.
The mayor encouraged residents to participate in the excitement, saying, “The Joburg Open is not about an elite competition; it is a festival of sport, community, and possibility,” outlined Morero.
