Golfers tee off at prestigious tournament

The Houghton Golf Club was abuzz when sponsors, pro golfers and special guests gathered for a day of golfing.

The Houghton Golf Club hosted the Pro-Am Golf Day on March 4.

This event brought together amateur golfers from across the city, professional golfers, and guests for a day filled with sportsmanship, networking, and camaraderie.

This event saw sponsors and their guests mingle and build relationships while enjoying golf with the pros.

Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie spoke to the media about the Pro-Am golf day on March 4, ahead of the Joburg Open which starts on March 6.

The club is hosting the Joburg Open.

“Hosting these types of golf days, attached to a major sporting event like the Joburg Open, is key in developing SA players in the sport. This event showcases the city’s venues and the talented golfers we have to offer,” said McKenzie.

Among the guests was Bongi Mokaba, the former event promoter of the #JoburgOpen and events director for the City of Joburg.

As the players took to the greens, there was a calm atmosphere. With its lush fairways and challenging holes, the Houghton Golf Club is the perfect setting for a day of golf and fun.

The day was a collaborative effort for sport as many golfers experienced the course and interacted with experienced pros.
