e-Paper Subscription Information

On mobile:

  1. Visit citizen.co.za
  2. Click the three-line menu icon  in the left-hand corner of the black menu bar.
  1. Scroll to the bottom and click Subscribe. Tap E-paper. You will be directed to the subscription page. Choose your preferred option, and follow the prompts.


On desktop:

  1. Visit citizen.co.za
  2. Click the SUBSCRIBE button in the top right corner of the black menu bar.
  3. Choose your subscription and follow the prompts.

I’ve subscribed, but can’t access the e-Paper. What now?

Make sure you’re signed in:

  • On desktop: Click the yellow E-PAPER button at the top right (next to My Account and Subscribe), then log in.
  • On mobile: Tap the E-PAPER button at the top left of the screen, and log in as prompted.

Where can I read the e-Paper?

  • On the website: citizen.co.za – click the E-PAPER button
  • On mobile: Download The Citizen News app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android)

Does my print subscription include access to the e-Paper?

No, the e-Paper is a separate subscription from the print edition.


Can I subscribe if I live outside South Africa?

Yes, our e-Paper is available to readers worldwide.


Is there a pensioner discount for the e-Paper?

Unfortunately, we do not offer a pensioner discount at this time.


Why do you need my email address?

Your email address serves as a unique identifier for your subscription. It makes it easy for us to locate your current subscription package.


What is the minimum subscription term?

One month.


What payment options are available?

We accept payments via:

  • Credit card
  • EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer)

When does my subscription expire?

Your subscription end date is included in your confirmation email and on your renewal notification.


How do I renew my subscription?

Your subscription renews automatically. Before renewal, you’ll receive a notification with the updated price and the option to cancel if you wish.


How can I manage my account?

Log into your account dashboard to:

  • View recent orders
  • Update billing information
  • Change your password and account details

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel at any time by providing 30 days’ written notice.

Will I get a refund if I cancel or change my subscription?

Since we follow a prepaid subscription model, the money you have paid for the subscription period (or part thereof), will not be refunded but you will still enjoy your subscription until the end of the month for which you have tendered your cancellation. Cancellation will only take effect at the end of your notice month prior to your next payment date.


Is my online payment secure?

Yes. We use PayFast, a trusted South African payment processor.
They ensure all transactions are secure and encrypted.
