Golfing champs are almost pros

DAINFERN - Dainfern College hosted the 2015 National College Golf Championship.

The championship is now in its 16th year and is the premier event on the high school golfing calendar. This year, 52 teams from 25 schools across South Africa and Zimbabwe participated.

Deidré Proxenos, marketing manager at Dainfern College said, “The champs are a wonderful opportunity for young golfers to experience what it feels like to be on a pro tour. We are most grateful for our sponsors, Finishing Touches, the Indaba Hotel, continental Outdoor and Dainfern Country Club, for their support in ensuring a highly successful championship this year.”

In the tightly contested individual tournament, this year’s winner was Marco Steyn of the Tuks High Performance Centre. David Meyers of Dainfern College was runner-up, Dylan Naidoo also of Tuks High Performance Centre took third place, and the individual net winner was Liam Ross of Kearsney College.

In the team event, Tuks High Performance Centre A team comprising Naidoo and Marco Steyn won the tournament. The runner-up was the Pecanwood A team of Slade Pickering and Clifford Thompson. The Dainfern College A team of David Meyers and Cameron Walker came third.
