Balogun works to create more unity
MIDRAND – Balogun The King said that his latest EP was a pull of different people from different backgrounds considering the work he did with his girlfriend from Zambia, producers from Zimbabwe and Nigeria and his creative team of South Africans and Zimbabweans.
Afro pop singer, producer, songwriter and businessman Olalekan Balogun, better known as Balogun The King, said he is on a mission to unite Africa through his arts.
Midrand-based Balogun released a new extended play (EP) last month which features rapper Kid Tini.
The musician explained that the brand Balogun The King was established 10 years ago. He added that it has been a progression since then, from learning about music to the business side of music.
“Since then until now I have been working on my craft, also getting into business with all that has to do with music like events, restaurants and so forth,” he explained.

However, getting to where he was today did not come easy, said the singer. He said he has had many hurdles which he is grateful for now.
Looking back, he said he would not be where he is today if it were not for those challenges. “I saw the hurdles as a learning curve and not failure, which helped me understand the music business, genres and the creative aspects of making music the way I want it to sound.
“All that experience has brought me up to this point where it is impossible for me to go wrong.”

Balogun explained that the EP highlights different people from different backgrounds. He worked with his girlfriend from Zambia, producers from Zimbabwe and Nigeria and his creative team, consisting of South Africans and Zimbabweans.
“I decided to push an initiative called #SoundWillUniteAfrica, where we are trying to unite Africa with our own sound, and I believe it will work.”
Balogun said that in five years he wants to see himself having released a couple of albums, fully establishing his record label and representing other artists.
