R9 000 raised for Woodrock Animal Rescue

Junior entrepreneurs brought energy and innovation to the Market Day of the estate, raising an impressive R9 000 for Woodrock Animal Rescue in the process.

Fourways Gardens Estate recently hosted its much-anticipated Market Day, where the young entrepreneurs from the estate wasted no time getting started.
Some set up gazebos as early as 7am, while others managed to convince their parents that an early start was non-negotiable.

Despite the icy grass and crisp winter air, spirits remained high, and by the official 9am start, the grounds were buzzing with excitement.
“The Market Day was a shopper’s delight,” shared Francois Grobler, communications and events manager of the estate.

Shoppers were treated to an array of stalls, each offering something unique. From handmade jewellery and soaps to baked goodies, potted plants, bubble tea and popcorn, there was no shortage of creativity on display.

When the cold weather lingered longer than expected, stalls originally placed under the tennis gazebo were quickly moved to the club’s lawn area, where business soon warmed up alongside the sunshine.

One stall in particular that tugged at the community’s heartstrings was Mila’s Must Love Dogs, set out with a mission to raise funds for ‘the cold doggies’ at Woodrock Animal Rescue.

The efforts paid off when they sold out of raffle tickets, raising R4 500. In recognition of their dedication, the estate’s Home Owners Association matched the amount, bringing the total to R9 000 for the animal rescue organisation.

Dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming, Woodrock Animal Rescue ensures that every furry friend, no matter the size, has the opportunity to find love and a second chance at life.

Grobler was pleased with the turnout and couldn’t help but gush. “A big well done to all our young entrepreneurs. You made, packaged, and sold your own products, and ran your very own businesses for the day. We saw lots of creativity, some fantastic products, and plenty of entrepreneurial spirit. We can’t wait to see what you do next year.”
