EFC 125 delivers stuns to the crowd

With several closely fought matches, EFC 125 thrilled Fourways' fans with a night of fists and frenzy, despite the cold weather.

On July 3, EFC 125 delivered an electrifying night of mixed martial arts action at the World Sports Betting Arena in Paulshof, featuring 12 hard-fought bouts that captivated fans, despite the cold winter evening.

The event showcased rising stars, number one contenders, and memorable finishes across the card.

The headline middleweight championship main event saw reigning champion Luke Michael retain his title in a grueling five-round battle against Siyakudumisa Nomvemve. Michael secured a unanimous decision victory after an intense contest that tested both fighters’ skills and endurance.

In the featherweight co-main event, Hanru Botha emerged victorious over Ayanda Zwane, also via unanimous decision after three competitive rounds.

One of the standout performances, on the bonus performances, came from Dante Mulenga, who defeated Kaleka Kabanda. Speaking after his win, Mulenga said: “I feel good.” When asked about his injury, he reported no issues, and reflected on the match, saying: “It was a very fair game.”

Regarding his opponent’s weaknesses, Mulenga added: “I used my advantage to win. He messed up with his ground game.” He dedicated his victory to his supporters and fans.

Ahead of the match, Mulenga said he made sure to train every day, preparing fully for the challenge. Looking forward, he said he is: “Ready for anything and anyone who’s willing to take me on. I am up for it.”

Other decisive wins on the main card included Adama Diop, who defeated Christophe Walravens via first-round TKO through strikes, Dante Mulenga, who secured a submission victory with a rear naked choke over Kaleka Kabanda, and Terrence Born, who knocked out Tico van den Berg with a left hook in the first round.

Performance bonuses were awarded to fighters who stood out during the event. The Fight of the Night went to Emerson Pedro versus Brandon Santos, while Armando De Crescenzo, Born, Mulenga, and Diop each received performance bonuses for their impressive finishes.
