Municipal offices to close for Christmas holidays

The metro will close a number of its offices over the festive season.

Residents should note that the metro will be closing its council offices between Christmas and New Year.

All administrative offices, libraries, selected rates halls and pay-points will be closed from 1pm on December 22 until January 2, next year.

However, emergency and essential services such as refuse collection, electricity and water services will not be affected by the recess.

“Time off during the Christmas holidays is the best opportunity to afford employees time to spend with their families especially those who wish to travel to their respective hometowns during this season,” said Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe.

“Residents are also reminded to pay their municipal accounts on time and utilise facilities such as the www.e-siyakhokha.co.za online platform.”

In case of emergency use the following contact numbers:

• Life-threatening emergency line: 011 458 0911 or 10177 or 112 from a cellphone.

• Municipal services call centre: 0860 543 000.

The municipality wishes all its residents a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
