Ekurhuleni Primary School boasts talented footballers

Two learners from Ekurhuleni Primary School are in the running to possibly win an all-expenses paid trip to Egypt to witness Bafana Bafana in action in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The 32nd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is scheduled to kick-off on June 21 in Egypt and one lucky footballer will stand a chance to be awarded tickets to attend one of the Bafana Bafana games.

In the spirit of football culture and nurturing the football talent of youngsters, Total South Africa has launched a schools football tournament in partnership with 32 schools throughout the country.

Nontando Thwala from Ekurhuleni Primary School, sported a #GirlsRule T-shirt to show her team spirit in support of the Grade Seven girls’ blue team. The team won 6-1 against the Grade Seven girls’ red team in the Total’s schools football tournament last Thursday.

The tournament made a stop at Ekurhuleni Primary School, in Dukathole, last Thursday.

Grade Fives, Sixes and Sevens headed to the Dukathole sports grounds to showcase their flair on the football pitch in front of football scouts from Total.

With five on each side, the red and blue teams went head-to-head in the hope of winning the tournament and revealing their school’s best players.

Out of the three grades, over 40 children competed in front of the scouts. At the end of the tournament, Thakane Mosala and Alfred Dick were the two learners selected to place their names in the final lucky draw to possibly win an all-expenses paid trip to Egypt.

Natalia Ndlovu took a free kick for her red team in Total’s schools soccer tournament last Thursday at the Dukathole sports grounds.

In addition to the football activities, Total representatives highlighted the importance of road safety and handed out educational Road to Safety activity booklets with colouring in pencils and reflective stickers to the learners so they could be more visible on the road.

Other engaging activities included a dancing competition.
