Illicit cigarettes worth R24 000 seized at Homestead store

Three arrested after thousands of Rands worth of illicit cigarettes were found.

Three foreign national businessmen were arrested last Saturday at a shop in Primrose for possession of illicit cigarettes worth over R24 000.

The confiscated illegal cigarettes comprised of various brands.

At the store, situated on the corner of Lucy and Kennedy streets in Homestead, EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit members uncovered 1 208 packets of illicit cigarettes, which included brands such as Mega, Sevilles, RG, Wish and JFK.

The arrested trio, aged 26, 37 and 42, were locked up at the Primrose Police Station and charged with possession of and dealing in illicit cigarettes.

They were expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court last Monday.
