Local club excels in competition

New local Taekwon-Do club excels in competition.

The Pilsung Taekwon-Do Club, situated in Lambton, took part in the Veritas Championships, in Johannesburg, on September 21 and 22.

There were nine Taekwon-Do dojangs (groups) that participated in the competition.

The club did remarkably well, collecting six gold, four silver and two bronze medals.

The members also managed to scoop the Overall Tiger (junior) Trophy and the Overall Veritas Championship Trophy.

The Lambton-based club focuses on the art of fist and foot fighting, and is less than a year old.

“We are thrilled with our performance at the championships; our closest competitors were 175 points behind us; we only started operating on August 2, 2013, but the future is looking bright for our club,” said the manager of Pilsung Taekwon-Do Club, Carnelle Vorster.

Their recent achievement has motivated them to train even harder.

“I must admit, it is not easy, as it requires a lot of hard work, determination and focus, but we enjoy what we do,” Vorster added.

The club currently has 15 students and anybody who is interested in joining is more than welcome.

All age groups are welcome and there is a joining fee, which varies according to age.
