Celebrating Madiba

The residents from the Avril Elizabeth Home had a wonderful time on Mandela Day.

It was fun and games at the Avril Elizabeth Home on Thursday.

In celebration of Mandela Day, the residents had a number of visitors and a fun day was held.

Staff from Tiger Brands, Sasol, the Germiston Mail Centre and Protea Mining Chemicals, as well as a number of individuals, visited the home to spend time with the residents.

The Germiston Mail Centre staff were out in full force having fun with the Avril Elizabeth residents at the home on Thursday in celebration of Mandela Day. They took time out to pose with two of the residents.

The residents and visitors played musical chairs, tug-o’-war, had egg and spoon races, did an obstacle course and danced and socialised.

The music for the day was done by Winston Hulley, who is also the home’s music therapist.

Tiger Brands supplied the rolls for the hotdogs and cooked them, Sasol donated the viennas, Protea Mining Chemicals donated a variety of much-needed goods for the residents and the Germiston Mail Centre supplied the sweets and snacks for the day.

Great fun was had by all.
