EMPD officers, out on a routine patrol, in Primrose, at 9am last Saturday, arrested an alleged drug dealer.
The 41-year-old man was found in possession of CAT, estimated to be worth R7 000 on the streets.
EMPD Germiston Crime Prevention officers stopped the man, who was driving his vehicle erratically along Turnhout Avenue.
“It became evident to the officers that the suspect’s vehicle was zigzagging due to the fact that he had spotted the EMPD car and was trying to hide his illicit substance in his underwear,” said Wilfred Kgasago, spokesman for the metro.
“The Metro Police officers found two packets of CAT on his person and, upon searching his flat, uncovered a further 21 packets under his bed.”
One packet of the CAT seized sells for R300 on the streets.
The suspect’s vehicle caused slight damage to the patrol car’s front bumper, as he failed to engage the handbrake when getting out of his vehicle.
“EMPD officers will unceasingly track down the despicable individuals who peddle drugs in our city,” said Kgasago.
The man was expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court on August 12, to face charges of possession of and dealing in illicit substances.
