The Primrose SAPS recently arrested three men for different incidents of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH).
Two men, aged 24 and 43, were arrested in the Makause informal settlement, and another, aged 29, was nabbed in the Marathon informal settlement.
In the first assault it is alleged that the man asked his girlfriend for R5 and when she said she didn’t have any money he became angry and assaulted her using a hammer.
In the second case, a man assaulted his neighbour after the neighbour closed his tuckshop early.
“The suspect wanted to buy something from the tuckshop and when he found it closed he started hitting the victim with bricks and a knobkerrie,” said Const Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
“The man was severely injured on his upper body.”
In the Marathon informal settlement assault, the victim alleged that his brother accused him of stealing his money and then started assaulting him.
He also stabbed him, using a sharp object.
“We are appealing to our community not to take the law into their own hands and to rather seek help if they need it,” said Maome.
