Man arrested for selling liquor without a licence
Primrose SAPS arrest man for selling liquor without a licence.
The Primrose police recently arrested a man in the Makause informal settlement, for selling liquor without a licence.
The arrest was made when officers patrolling the Makause informal settlement noticed a busy tavern and decided to investigate further.
The officers entered the tavern and asked the owner to show them his liquor licence.
The 33-year-old tavern owner was unable to produce a liquor licence and the officers arrested him.
The suspect was transported to the Primrose Police Station, where he was detained pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrates Court.
The suspect appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court and was released with a warning.
“As police we strongly discourage the sale of liquor without a licence, especially in the informal settlements, where alcohol abuse is so rife,” said Const Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
Maome also warned that contact crimes, like rape, domestic violence, child neglect and assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm are on the rise.
