A 28-year-old man was recently arrested by the Primrose SAPS, on a charge of rape.
The arrest took place in the Marathon informal settlement, after the victim’s mother laid a charge against her boyfriend.
The woman originally laid a charge of assault against her boyfriend after he allegedly assaulted her and accused her of cheating on him, when she returned home after visiting a friend.
She ran away from the area, taking all her children with her, except for her four-year-old daughter, who she could not find.
She returned to the settlement and asked people if they had seen the child, and someone told her that the girl was at the accused’s shack.
The woman went to the shack and found her daughter naked.
Upon closer inspection she noticed a white substance on the little girl’s private parts.
She immediately contacted the police and the SAPS tracked down and arrested the man.
He appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court on a charge of rape and his case was postponed for further investigation.
