Brothers knocked down and killed

Children killed while waiting for transport.

Two primary school children were declared dead on scene and another two suffered critical injuries, on Friday, after being knocked down by a vehicle.

The accident, involving a collision between two vehicles, occurred at the intersection between Palm Ridge and Eden Park, at about 7am.

“Apparently one of the drivers lost control of his vehicle after the collision, and knocked down the four boys, who were waiting nearby for their transport to school,” said William Ntladi, media liaison officer for Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Services.

“Information at our disposal is that the boys who were killed are brothers.”

Ekurhuleni Emergency Services had to give medical treatment to the injured people on scene before transporting all eight injured patients, including the two critically injured boys, to Natalspruit Hospital for further medical attention.

The six other patients were in serious but stable conditions.

The intersection was closed for two hours.

The cause of accident is unknown and an inquest docket has been opened by the police.
