Mayor launches employment project

R1 million awarded to each ward for employment project.

The metro’s executive mayor, Clr Mondli Gungubele, officially launched the Lungile Mtshali Development Project on Saturday, March 8.

The project is a labour intensive community project that has already created over 3 000 jobs.

The metro’s aim is to develop the wards with the injection of R1 million into each ward.

The launch of the project coincided with the beginning of actual work in Wattville and Actonville, where Gungubele led working teams in the planting of trees, provision of the 25 litre water bins, as well as addressing sanitation challenges in the area.

Other labour intensive projects include energy efficiency, wetlands rehabilitation and waste management, greening and landscaping.
