Nadia’s swimming start to the year

St Catherine's amazing young swimmer.

St Catherine’s School pupil Nadia Calore was thrilled when she was chosen as the school’s senior primary swimming captain.

Calore was named captain after her very impressive start to 2014.

Her season started on March 14, when she took part in the Alberton Swimming Club’s end-of-season event.

She dominated the the girls under-12 category of the event, taking first place (gold) in the individual medley; first place (gold) in 50m backstroke; first place (gold) in 50m butterfly; first place (gold) in 50m freestyle; second place (silver) in her second 50m breaststroke swim.

Calore was also awarded the Swimmer of the Year title and recorded the best attendance for the season.

She then competed in the Central Gauteng Aquatics (CGA) Level 0 end-of-season gala on March 16, at the Ellis Park Swimming Pool.

She recorded personal bests in all four the events in which she participated, winning two, namely the breaststroke and backstroke.

She was awarded the following ribbons and medals for her overall performance in the girls under-12 categories:

  •  First place ribbon and the gold medal in the 50m backstroke, in a time of 44.52 seconds.
  •  Second place ribbon and the silver medal in the 50m butterfly, in a time of 41.64 seconds.
  •  Third place ribbon and the bronze medal in the 50m freestyle, in a time of 38.22 seconds.
  •  Fourth place ribbon in the 50m breaststroke, in a time of 51.37 seconds.

These results ensure that this young swimmer will be able to swim in level one, in the new season.
