Long-standing Sunnyridge residents Steve and Jean Meyer have just celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary.
The couple was married on March 28, 1964, in the Germiston Full Gospel Church.
They met while holidaying in Amanzimtoti in KwaZulu-Natal.
They both happened to be sitting on bench number 3 in the town and started chatting.
The chat led to an exchange of numbers and so their love progressed.
Steve grew up in Germiston and Jean in Johannesburg.
They have lived in Sunnyridge for most of their married life.

The couple has four children, Deborah Claassen (52), Stephne Jones (46), Eleanor de Bruin (33) and Daniel (45).
They also have four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and are excitedly awaiting the birth of their third great-grandchild soon.
Both Steve and Jean are very active in the church and Jean loves to look after children.
They celebrated their anniversary with a “celebration weekend” organised by Daniel.
“We have never eaten so much in our lives,” Jean said.
“It was a wonderful weekend, spent with family and friends.”
Steve jokingly said that the secret to a happy 50 years is to say “Yes, dear,” often.
However, they both agree that you must put God first, work hard at your marriage and take it one day at a time.
